A Visit to a Village in Western Mountains

By Lu You, a poet in the Southern Song Dynasty

Don't mock at a farmers wine preserved for winter being not so pure,

They will treat guests to plenty of chicken and pork in a harvest year.

So many mountains, and so many rivers, where is my path? I am not too clear.

Passing by thick willows and smiling flowers, suddenly another village is here.

Flutes and drums are practised everywhere,a new spring festival is drawing near.

They pass on good ancient customs, dressed in clothes simple and not dear.

From now on, if I could have time free to enjoy the relaxing moonshine sight,

Stick in hand,I would certainly knock at the their doors now and again at night.
